Gail's Bakery Wardour Street

Gail's Bakery Wardour Street

Completed March 2012

The brief is a simple modern building to house an exceptional product which pushes the bread over the interior. Site specific and a clear response to its urban location, the architecture is a clash of shiny and rough, of polished and found, with one texture setting off the next to create a simple, dramatic backdrop.

A small palette of materials was carefully selected, then re-used in different finishes at different locations to stitch together separate areas of the shop whilst creating a subtle variety of finish. The building was listed, as part of historic Soho’s shopping district.
