GBK Clapham

GBK Clapham

Completed November 2013

Located on the busy Clapham High Street, the original venue had proved popular despite a long narrow plan. The new scheme reconfigured the bar to improve the front of house circulation, removed of false walls to increase kitchen visibility and added an overhaul of the finishes throughout to make better use of the available space.

Reclaimed slim cut timbers set in a shallow chevron pattern dominate the street facing seating area of the restaurant to create a stunning entrance from the street. These are set against dark green chesterfield banquettes with bright yellow button details, heavier concrete lampshades with opaque silicon trims and brightly finished yellow toned resin table tops enclosing timber tables. Externally the timber chevrons are white washed for contrast and a yellow awning continues the signature colour.

Towards the back of the restaurant the timbers give way to a hexagonal tiling pattern at the bar and casual dining area leading to a more private top lit dining area at the back of the restaurant. Here finishes incorporate lighter coloured bespoke wallpaper, reclaimed antique mirrors, yellow resin tables and plush red leather reupholstered timber chairs. An external lightwell completes the space with planted hung galvanised pots discreetly uplit during the evenings.
