Maggie's Ealing

Maggie's Ealing

Completed January 2014

Working closely with the Client, the scheme sought to elaborate and expand upon a bar and restaurant concept that offered food and drink in a relaxed atmosphere with strong music influences.

Using an industrial aesthetic applied to the servicing, lighting and displays, these were set against an eclectic mix of furniture, soft finishes, and finished and rough cut surfaces. A striking red bar top with concave vertical timber panels, beautifully made sets up the centrepiece focal point. The fine detailing is set against exposed steel openings, rough exposed brickwork, cast concrete panels and a scaffold boarded back bar.

Album graphics are interspersed with found objects with framed album artwork and cassette wallpaper motifs. An openness to the space and the approach to the items within seek to encourage diners to become involved and to feel at home. Completed with a bespoke mesh screen curtain that depicts Pennie Smith's iconic photograph of The Clash's London Calling.
