Nando’s Aberdeen

Nando’s Aberdeen

Completed October 2012

To create a large restaurant aligned with Aberdeen's identity as the 'Silver City' due to its history of granite quarrying. To transform the existing premises consisting of an industrial aesthetic with high, open ceilings of steel work into a vibrant space with a contemporary feel.

Within an industrial space part of an old school building, we placed a series of simple objects within the space, seating, bar, staircase and tied these together with a series of unified materials, local granite, bronze, oak and concrete. The staircase develops into sculptural piece rising through the floor, the void wrapped in a huge reverse graffiti installation by a young Portuguese artist.

Shortlisted for 2013 Restaurant Bar & Design Awards - Restaurant or bar in a retail space.
