Nando’s Whitechapel

Nando’s Whitechapel

Completed September 2015

The brief for the refurbishment of Nando’s Whitechapel was to define the complex space of the existing, circular-shaped restaurant. Diverse zones have been created and the layout combines both fixed and flexible seating areas to accommodate the wide spectrum of diners. From intimate, round booths for small groups to the long, central banquette for larger parties, there is the opportunity for a distinctive dining experience with each visit. For the warm summer months, a protected outdoor seating provides the opportunity for dining at Nando’s al fresco.

Influenced by the geometry and colour of contemporary African craft, warm and bright colours have been teamed with rich timber tones. On entering the main restaurant, stacked blocks of wood carry the eye around the room. The lighting scheme is brought together by conical walnut ceiling lights spotted across the ceiling, leading from the entrance into the eating area, where unique pendants further define each exciting dining space.
