A large family detached house on private estate near Highgate Village, suffering with an awkward flow between rooms and poor connections to the rear high level exterior spaces. The brief was straight forward, raise the profile of the house on the estate, provide a family home that is light, organised and more useable space, unlocking the potential of the property.
The rear plan of the building was opened up to form a flowing kitchen, dining and lounge space all orientated to the sloping garden beyond. A large frameless glass conservatory extension combined with heavily excavating parts of the rear sloping garden, created a light filled kitchen and dining as the hub of the property. Large full height timber sliding panel doors allow separate rooms to be reinstated providing a flexible living and entertaining space.
The entrance lobby was extensively remodelled reconfiguring restrictive structural columns, introducing a new bespoke timber and glass staircase commissioned to create an open and inviting entrance befitting of the scale of the house. Elsewhere modest infilling of lost spaces around the ground and first floors helped to create a large playroom and a gym room, while refurbished bathrooms, a reconfigured utility and full redecoration of the property have brought the house up to date with clean, modern and rich finishes.
