branded office space
Battersea, London
Here we worked with a long-standing commercial client to create bespoke office spaces that bring the essence of their brand into the working environments of their senior team and various departments. The brief, within existing buildings, was to reinvent each office from scratch — both functionally and aesthetically.
The difficulty of bespoke office design is in encapsulating the needs of specific people and specific teams without letting the design be watered down by competing demands. The work depended on a tight organisational structure throughout, and on holding fast to a clear final vision even as individual requirements multiplied.
Studio Insight
Our client has strong ties to South Africa, and supports artists and artisans across the community.
The final scheme is a coming together of contemporary design, spatial brand identity, and art, fabrics, and furniture born straight out of Cape Town. The result is rooted in the brand — neither fake nor apologetic.
Over lunch in a café in Lisbon, the team set about cracking a simple plan puzzle for the client. On a napkin, various arrangements were drawn out — testing how the space might best accommodate their needs. This almost never happens in the real world. But there is something invigorating about the idea that successful buildings are a series of simple puzzles, elegantly solved.
From the owners:
"We have had the pleasure of working with Rod and his team for eight years. Their teams are not only very capable, but bring passion, energy and a hardworking ethic to our schemes and importantly site meetings. They are not just an external resource for us, we consider them part of our Nando's family."
